Work Permit Special Categories A. Nationals or citizens
Under
current Work Permit regulations there are a number of sub categories in which
special provisions are made:
Intra Company Transferees
Existing employees of multi-national companies who are transferring to a senior post in the UK may qualify to be dealt with under a simplified procedure.
A further concession relates to those being transferred for purposes of career development.
Board of Directors or equivalent level posts
The overseas national must either be on the board or have a very senior position within the company. The individual’s seniority is measured by the degree of influence that his decisions may have over the company.
Posts involving new
foreign investment in the United Kingdom
This category requires evidence of capital investment in the UK and the creation of jobs for EEA nationals.
Short supply
occupations
The Overseas Labour Service keeps a list of occupations that it believes to be in short supply within the European Economic Area. This list is regularly updated.

Keyworker applications
Keyworkers are overseas nationals with technical specialised skills and expertise that is not readily available in the European Economic Area. Persons with extensive knowledge of languages and cultures and certain hotel and catering employees can qualify as keyworkers.
