NEW SIMPLIFIED UK ENTRY FOR
EASTERN EUROPEAN NATIONALS

Nationals of certain Central & East European countries who wish to establish a business in the UK, or work as self employed persons may do so through the provisions of  a European Union Association agreement.

DJ Webb are currently engaged in two "leading" cases (these are cases that test the rules and set new immigration precedents) on EC Association Agreements that have just been referred to the European Court of Justice for a ruling on whether applicants from these countries have a "directly effective" right of establishment in European Law. Judgment is not expected for some months but may re-define the law. Watch this space.

WRITERS & ARTISTS EXEMPTION

Writers artists & composers are among the ‘special categories’ who are exempt from work permit requirements.

Applications must be carefully prepared to show that the applicant is already well-established as a self-employed person outside the UK and has been able to maintain and accommodate himself and any dependants outside the UK on the basis of writing, composing or artistic activity. Examples of the applicant's work should be shown to the relevant British post abroad.
